Robert LaFond Jr.'s speciality is Computer Consulting based on Cache / M related database technologies and consulting utilizing the Department of Veterans Affairs Fileman / VISTA suite of applications.


During his 20+ years of corporate information technology experience, Mr. LaFond has served in the capacities of Lead Developer, Systems Architect, Project Manager, and Systems Analyst in addition to leadership positions of Chief, Information Resource Management Services, Director of Technology, and Director of Computer Operations with organizations that include General Electric, Kaiser Permanente, NASA, Physicians Health Services, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.

Mr. LaFond has expertise across the technology and architecture stacks, having led major infrastructure and database design and build initiatives as well as several major development efforts that have included the Electronic Medical Record, PACS, HIS and Teleradiology.

Mr. LaFond has led Enterprise Applications Integration (EAI) initiatives utilizing SeeBeyond, HL7, X12 and Cache / M related technologies.

Mr. LaFond has spearheaded multiple process reengineering and technical assessment efforts, leading to the development of enterprise architecture and technology plans, policies, standards and procedures as well as working with his clients during vendor negotiations which resulted in "hard" multi-million dollar savings.

Academically, Mr. LaFond has earned a Bachelor's Degree of Information Systems Management from the University of San Francisco, and an Associate of Science Degree in Digital Electronics from Foothill College. He has also completed Graduate level studies in the areas of Database Development, Decision Support Systems, and Business Process Re-Engineering.

In addition to Mr. LaFond's academic training, he has completed a comprehensive certification process through Intersystems Corporation as a Certified Cache Expert.
